hi everyone,

i started school and did not expect to be as busy as i am. Sometimes i don't even have time to eat. School work, gallery stuff, lots of reading, community service, environmental club, whoa!... it can go on forever.

i have a stash of stuff to put up but just not now.
i will totally make it up when i start posting again.

thank you to everyone who favored my work and for the comments, i loves you. :D

Reoccurring dreams.

Tue Jan 13, 2009, 10:30 AM
so this is a random thought.

i have this reoccurring dream where i am running away from something, like a dog or a sprinkler or i am trying to swim to the top of a pool but my muscles tense up and i find it hard to escape.

the one with the pool i was holding my breath and then i breathed in because i could no longer hold my breath but then i was able to breathe under water. I was trying to climb the little ladder in the pool but i kept slipping down.

my body just goes slow motion and it is so annoying because i'm like here we go again!

Do any of you have any reoccurring dreams that are annoying or peculiar or that you just feel like sharing?

Eye Perlies Artist Statement

Tue Nov 11, 2008, 2:24 PM
The inspiration for this series comes from the idea of doodling. I wanted to experience making art through an intuitive and carefree manner without any prior preparations. No rules, no over-thinking, no restrictions. I wanted to make art for the reasons I did as a kid. Going back in time and making art that did not mean anything. The art could be interpreted in any way possible. It is purely made for enjoyment and in a way from boredom, because what is the motive behind doodling anyways?
I drew eyes and teeth because I felt that they could be easily manipulated and because of their repetitive quality. I like drawing these two things but I never imagined that once I drew them on the ink splotches they would start to form into faces. This really surprised me because this concept-less body of work begun to create a concept on its own. Furthermore, it opened up the possibility of people relating to the work even though the faces are more monster-like than human.
This series made me step out of how I usually work. People familiar with my work might not recognize this as mine but possibly the detail obsession might give it away. Even though this was mostly intuitive I did create rules which were purely made for composition sake. Every piece has a similar approach to it, yet they all are very different from each other. The idea of repetition also fascinated me. With every couple of pieces I would draw in another repetitive symbol into the work. Probably out of boredom from doing the same thing over and over again. Which is funny because people doodle from boredom yet I got bored from doodling, therefore I doodled some more.
